Game Night was a success!

IMG_5371Back in October I attended Quilt Market in Houston, TX. I’m still sorting out all the things I learned! One thing I knew I wanted to bring back with me was hosting a Game Night.IMG_5367 I love getting to know the sewing community and I think others do as well. I met the fabulous Teresa from Stitchin’ Tree Quilts who introduced me to Trader’s Dice. It’s a lot of fun and everyone leaves a winner. Not only can you trade quilt squares, but ANYTHING you can think of! And it’s not just for us grown ups…my kids even used them to trade out their halloween candy.

We looked over the calendar, and I thought what better way to celebrate National Quilting Day than find a way to bring quilters together? Boom. Done.

IMG_1485Getting closer to the event, I will confess I started getting a bit anxious as to whether or not I would be able to fit everyone in the shop area. I did have a plan b in case more showed up than those that signed up, but luckily we didn’t have anyone who I wasn’t prepared for. We had door prizes every little bit and everyone that came left with a prize and also a free table runner pattern to use with those 2.5″ squares!

It was the perfect amount for my space. Now I know exactly how to plan for the next one! Plan on having another one in May or June so keep your eyes open for more information to come on that!

The big winners of each table won this braided table runner patter along with the fabric to complete the top. The pattern is a Judy Niemeyer pattern using fabric from her Reclaimed West collection.

We also had a table full of goodies to snack on!

Food, friends, and fabric = FUN!

The game is really easy to follow and it didn’t take the ladies very long at all to get the hang of it.

After the game was finished there was extra time to shop! Everyone who came received a discount off their purchases and a few were just happy to be able to shop at night since I’m not usually open during that time. I got a little chuckle out of that one. The picture above gave me an even bigger chuckle! These ladies made me smile the whole time they were here. Thanks again for coming and I hope to see you at the next one!

  1. We had such a great time! On Sunday afternoon Kimberly played with different arrangements of her squares. Thanks for your hospitality!
